The pre-doctoral interns are engaged in various training components.
The training program is continuous, sequential and organized in a step-wise fashion.
Teaching occurs using a combination of case-based and didactic presentations, role-playing, observational learning, and supervisory and consultative guidance to increase clinical understanding. Efforts are made to include community clinicians and professionals as consultants and instructors when specific topics arise.
Each intern at WCC receives an hour of clinical supervision for every four clients, an hour of individual supervision for assessment, and three hours of clinical case conference and assessment group supervision.
Culturally conscious training is embedded within all training components, including case conferences, supervision, assessment, and program-specific meetings. Additionally, the interns participate in agency-wide multicultural trainings that include Grand Rounds presentations as well as didactic and experiential exercises with the agency’s professional staff.
