Thank you for your interest in WestCoast. Each referral begins with an intake interview conducted over the phone with an Intake Clinician. The interview lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. During this interview, you will be asked information concerning your child and why you are seeking services at this time. Depending on how the services are funded, for example, by Medi-Cal, different pieces of information will be collected. For all referrals, we ask that you provide your child’s social security number and date of birth as well as Medi-Cal subscriber number.

At the completion of your phone interview, the information gathered will be reviewed to determine if WestCoast is the agency best suited to your initial needs. If during the interview or after it appears that we are not the most suitable agency, we will provide you with referrals to agencies that might be able to accommodate you. Occasionally we may not have the capacity to immediately accommodate your request. You will be informed at the time of your request and you may choose to be placed on a waiting list.

There are services that we cannot offer such as child custody evaluations, divorce mediation, sexual abuse investigations, child-care, or tutoring. We do not provide medication services but we do work with local child psychiatrists and physicians. We are also not equipped to handle current emergencies. If there is a psychiatric or medical emergency occurring, please contact your local psychiatric emergency service or contact your local fire or police department for immediate assistance.

The average length of time between your phone call and receiving a clinician, if we are able to serve you, is up to two weeks. A clinician assigned to your family will contact you. However, if you have questions, feel free to contact the intake department.
