STAT Program Supervisor


Job Summary: The STAT Program Supervisor works as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes STAT Clinicians, STAT Support Counselors, STAT Support Counselor Supervisors, Alameda County Social Service staff, and the Assessment Center Public Health Nurse to provide comprehensive care, supervision, and assessment of children in a nurturing, child-friendly environment at the Alameda County Assessment Center. The STAT Program Supervisor provides day-to-day supervision and coordination of all services provided by the STAT program.


Reports to: STAT Program Director


Duties:

1. Monitors all services provided by STAT staff at the Assessment Center.

2. Provides direct supervision of STAT Support Counselor Supervisors.

3. Facilitates daily team meetings where clients at the Assessment Center are reviewed to assure the highest quality of assessment, support and care of the clients.

4. Ensures collaboration of STAT staff with each other and with other members of the multidisciplinary team described above.

5. Provides consultation to STAT clinicians as needed when on-site at the Assessment Center.

6. Provides consultation by phone to STAT staff when not on-site at the Assessment Center.

7. Provides consultation to Child Welfare placement staff as needed when on-site at the Assessment Center.

8. Monitors quality and timeliness of STAT clinicians’ screening/assessment and consultation with county child welfare workers and other collaborating professionals through direct discussion/consultation of cases.

9. Assures incorporation of STAT Support Counselor observations into overall assessment of clients.

10. Assists Program Director in orientation and training of new STAT clinicians.

11. Participates in STAT administrative staff meeting and STAT supervisor meeting.

12. Provides feedback to Program Director regarding performance of STAT clinical staff.

13. Participates in program development and planning.

14. Provides input to the Program Director regarding the development of program policies and procedures.

15. Complies with all WCC policies, procedures, and deadlines related to billing, record keeping, and documentation.

16. Performs other duties or projects as assigned by STAT Program Director.


Qualifications:

1. Masters degree in marriage and family therapy or social work or doctoral degree in clinical psychology required. Current California mental health license in good standing as a Psychologist, MFT, or LCSW required.

2. A minimum of 2 years experience providing individual psychotherapy, parent support, and/or family therapy to children, adolescents and their families, particularly those in foster care.

3. Demonstrated clinical experience with foster care, child protective services, community mental health, and/or community psychology models.

4. Experience in providing mobile, home-based, school-based, and/or residential therapy services.

5. Able to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

6. Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of ethnicity, race, class, gender, and sexual preference.

7. Experience working with diverse communities.

8. Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills.

9. Knowledge of (or ability and willingness to learn) Medi-Cal reimbursement, billing, and documentation policies and procedures.

10. Must obtain and maintain standard First Aid/CPR certification.

11. Must obtain blood borne pathogens training.


Hours: Full-time


Salary: $65,000 - $72,000 DOE plus benefits

STAT Clinician


Job Summary: Clinicians will provides mental health Screening, Stabilization, and Transition (STAT) services to children as they enter the foster care system in Alameda County.


Reports to: STAT Program Director


Duties:

1. Provides time-sensitive clinical screening and assessment of children ages 0-18 as they enter or change placement within the foster care system. Completes structured clinical interviews of elementary school aged children and adolescents to assess cognitive, emotional and social functioning; semi-structured screening and observation of pre-school children and toddlers to rule out developmental delays in the areas of speech/language, gross and fine motor functioning, and social-emotional functioning.

2. Completes a screening report on each child assessed that includes behavioral observations; summary of emotional, cognitive, and social functioning; DSM-IV-TR diagnostic impression; placement recommendations; and recommendations regarding potential treatment issues and concerns.

3. Communicates findings to and consult with county social workers to facilitate optimal foster home or group home placement and appropriate referrals for additional mental health services as appropriate.

4. Attends case review meetings to present children screened and determine appropriate recommendations.

5. Provides time-limited transition and stabilization services to help children make positive adjustment to placement in foster home or group home. Services include brief therapeutic intervention with clients; consultation with foster parents and group home staff; and recommendations to county social workers regarding mental health treatment needs as appropriate. Services are provided throughout the greater Bay Area (primarily Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano, and San Francisco counties).

6. Collaborates with other professionals within WCC and partnering agencies.

7. Complies with WCC policies, procedures, and deadlines related to billing, record keeping, and documentation.


8. Complies with WCC and California state board requirements pertaining to supervision and case conference attendance.

9. Participates in administrative meetings and professional development trainings as required.


Qualifications:

1. Doctoral or Masters degree in clinical or counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work. License preferred.

2. Clinical experience conducting screening and assessment of children, preferably in psychiatric hospital, psychiatric emergency service, or other crisis setting.

3. Experience in providing individual psychotherapy, parent support, and family therapy to children, adolescents and their families, particularly where children are or have been in foster care.

4. Experience with child protective services and community mental health systems.

5. Demonstrated knowledge of child development.

6. Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

7. Demonstrated ability to work within an intensive clinical setting.

8. Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of race, class, and ethnicity.

9. Experience working within diverse communities.

10. Knowledge of MediCal reimbursement procedures and billing desirable.

11. Ability to be well organized and complete high quality and timely documentation.

12. Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills.

13. Clean CA DMV record and insurance.

14. Program located in Hayward. Must be willing to travel within 1.5 hour radius of Hayward to provide services. Car is necessary to perform job responsibilities.

Clinical Psychotherapist and Assessment Specialist

Job Summary: A WCC clinical psychotherapist provides clinical services and psychological assessments to WCC clients, and, if licensed, is legally responsible for adherence to all state provider billing and documentation requirements. Psychological assessments are conducted using a therapeutic-collaborative assessment model to evaluate children and adolescents referred by the Departments of Social Services. Therapeutic-Collaborative Assessment enlists the clients as co-collaborators, and the evaluator works as a consultant and facilitator with the system (e.g., social worker, group home, foster home, school, support services, etc) to address the questions generated by the referring parties. Traditional assessment tools will be combined with therapeutic interventions. The Clinical Psychotherapist and Assessment Specialist works with the Program Director to identify policies, procedures, and training needs.


Reports to: Outpatient and Assessment Program Directors


Duties:

• Maintain caseload of assessment and general outpatient clients; meet billable hours goal as set by the agency.
• Evaluation and assessment: psychological testing (initial evaluation and interview, mental status exam, behavioral observations, cognitive and emotional testing, test scoring and interpretation)
• Conduct psychological assessments in both clinic and community
• Develops written reports and verbal feedback for referring parties.
• Conducts collateral interviews for information gathering and providing feedback
• Provides individual psychotherapy to children and youth, family therapy, and parent guidance to foster parents and other caregivers as necessary.
• Provides services in the community (client’s homes, communities, other agencies, and schools); local travel is required.
• Collaborates with other professionals within WCC and partnering agencies.
• Makes collateral contacts on behalf of clients as needed.
• Treatment planning; consultation to client and caregivers on summary of findings and recommendations regarding treatment plan and placement.
• Provides follow-up meetings with school/IEP, treatment teams if advisable
• Complies with WCC policies, procedures, and deadlines related to billing, record keeping and documentation.
• Complies with WCC and California state board requirements pertaining to licensing and supervision.
• Participates in agency and program meetings and professional development trainings as required, including: Agency and program-specific meetings (3 hours/week), Individual Clinical and Assessment Supervision (unlicensed, 2 hours/week minimum required), Individual Clinical and Assessment Consultation (if licensed, 2 hour/week minimum required for first 3 months of employment; upon successful completion of probation, 2 hour/week of consultation is available), Clinical and Assessment Case Conferences (4 hours/week).
• Works proactively with the program director to ensure the strength of the program, and completes additional tasks as requested by the program director.



Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in clinical, counseling or educational psychology.
• Current California mental health license as a psychologist or license eligible.
• Familiarity with the therapeutic-collaborative model of assessment.
• Ability to maneuver between standard and collaborative-intervention assessment models.
• Experience with child and adolescent assessment.
• Facility with child and adolescent psychological test instruments and materials.
• Rorschach experience and skill.
• Ability to integrate test data into a clearly written report.
• Demonstrated clinical experience with foster care, DSS, and community mental health.
• Ability to work with clients who have complex, multi-problem histories.
• Experience in providing individual psychotherapy, parent support, and family therapy to children, adolescents and their families, particularly when children are or have been in foster care.
• Engaging, flexible style with children and adolescents.
• Demonstrated clinical experience with foster care, DSS, and community mental health model.
• Knowledge and self-awareness in issues of race, class, and ethnicity; experience in working with diverse communities.
• Clinical experience with foster youth and the systems serving them.
• Experience providing individual therapy to children and adolescents.
• Ability to operate independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
