| Job Summary: |
The Foster Youth Development Program (FYDP) is a specialized program within WestCoast Children's Clinic. FYDP is designed to meet the unique needs of Transition Age Youth in the Alameda County foster care system and to support these youth as they prepare for and navigate through emancipation. The FYDP Clinician provides intensive clinical case management; intensive clinical case management, individual, family and group therapy; and collateral work with foster parents, social workers, teachers, and other adults in youths' lives. Services may include linking to and coordinating with tutoring & vocational programs, mentoring, housing, health and independent living skills training. The goal of treatment is to prepare youth for the transition to adulthood, support youth to stabilize in placement, reduce mental health symptoms, and build a positive team of community supports.
Transitions Age Youth Services Clinicians must have strong clinical and advocacy skills, demonstrate flexibility, utilize a strengths-based approach, and demonstrated experience working with adolescents with high mental health needs.

Project Runaway Clinician
| Program Description |
Project Runaway is a new collaboration between Alameda County Department of Children and Family Services and WestCoast Children's Clinic to improve the placement stability of Alameda County dependents by reducing the number and length of AWOL episodes. Project Runaway staff will provide (1) outreach and engagement services and (2) intensive clinical case management services to Alameda County dependents who have run away from the homes in which they were placed by the Department of Children and Family Services.

The Project Runaway Clinician provides intensive clinical case management services to youth who have run away from their foster home or group home, including assessment of the circumstances that led up to the runaway episode; intervention to support the child's return to an appropriate foster home, group home or home of a relative; assessment of and clinical intervention to address the youth's psychological, social, and emotional needs; crisis intervention as needed; identification of and connection to services to address the youth's on-going needs; collaboration with the youth's child welfare worker, the youth's caregiver(s); the Project Runaway Outreach and Engagement Specialist, and other involved professionals and non-professionals as necessary.

The assessment specialist utilizes a therapeutic assessment model to evaluate children and adolescents referred by Alameda County Social Services, funded by EPSDT monies (Early Periodic Screening Detection & Treatment). These assessments enlist the clients as co-collaborators, and the evaluator will also work collaterally and as a consultant with the system (e.g. caretaker, social worker, school, wrap-around services, etc.) to address the questions generated by the referring parties. Youth Advocate Fellow - Youth Adult Partnership (YAP) Program

The YAP Fellow is a former Alameda County foster youth (19-24 years old) who represents the foster youth voice in Alameda County DCFS, providing feedback and recommendations on a variety of foster care issues. The YAP Fellow assists in the training of new child welfare workers and also provides education on the foster youth experience through various panel presentations and speaking engagements. Additionally, the YAP Fellow provides support to youth currently in care through participation in Team Decision Meetings and Transitional Living Conference.
As part of WestCoast Children's Clinic's Youth Adult Partnership Fellowship Program, the YAP Fellow participates in a two-year program that integrates professional development, employment training and on-the-job experience within the context of the work performed for Alameda County DCFS. The YAP Fellow reports to the YAP Program Director.

Trauma Informed Care Project Manager

The Project Manager for the Trauma Informed Care Project will oversee all aspects of this project, as laid forth by WestCoast Children's Clinic and Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services (BHCS). Working closely with the Assistant Director of Training and directly supervising the Project Team, the Project Manager will ensure that all aspects of the project are conducted to meet the project goals.
Background of Project
WestCoast Children's Clinic in partnership with Behavioral Health Care Services (BHCS) Stakeholders will provide technical assistance and build capacity within the community to deliver culturally responsive trauma-informed care. The project will occur in two phases. Phase 1 will be focused on researching community needs and cultural practices relevant to experiences of trauma. Tasks of this phase will include planning and implementation of half-day convenings with community stakeholders and a full day Healing Trauma Summit. This phase will culminate in the development of a report on findings. Phase 2 will include the development of a set of tools that can be used in a variety of settings to improve thoughtfulness regarding the impact of trauma and support practices that best reflect this understanding. Essential Job Duties:

Research Development
- Types and proofs a variety of technical manuscripts, correspondence, memos, reports, charts, grants utilizing medical or field related terminology; edits; makes copies; collates, assembles and distributes reports, documents and/or grants.
- Identifies eligible subjects for research studies.
- Obtains informed consent and collects data from participants for research studies.
- Develops, inputs and checks data/data files (Excel or SPSS).
Active Research Activities
- Performs literature searches via MEDLINE, PubMed, PsychInfo (on internet).
- Reviews, sorts, and files a variety of material; sets up filing systems as needed, prepares file folders and categories for new files.
- Runs descriptive statistics and cross tabulations and other statistical procedures as required; sorts data files by variable(s); generates graphs and tables.
- Maintains table of contents of current psychological or behavioral health research journals.
- Identifies articles pertinent to WCC research and evaluation activities and distributes as appropriate.
Data Management
- Manages files for research projects/studies.
- Develops process charts.
- Identifies pertinent literature from literature search and requests or obtains articles from libraries.
- Manages instrument file and adds instruments as pertinent.
- Manages and keeps current funding source file from federal, foundation or other financial resources.
- Checks NIH listings on the internet for funding pertinent to projects at WestCoast.
- Photocopies materials following general instruction within specified time frame.
Other
- Maintains procedure manuals and protocols for all research and evaluation projects.
- Demonstrates behaviors in concert with the Clinic's mission, values, policies and procedures.

| Qualifications: |
|
|
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology or other related social science fields preferred.
- Experience with clinical research, preferred.
- Familiarity working with children, adolescents and their families, preferred.
- Knowledge of computers & experience with Mac and PC-based platforms.
- Proficiency with software such as SPSS, FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Office for statistical analyses, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, presentation, e-mail, and database management.
- Experience with database development, entry, and quality control procedures.
- Ability to organize and effectively process and maintain records and files.
- Ability to plan and organize detailed projects with multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Consistent & reliable with strong interpersonal skills.
